The olfactory dialogue between the purity of Lily of the Valley and the sibylline charm of the Black Rose.

May. A month that for me, a fragrance designer, is an unexpected symphony of scents that vibrate in the air, a succession of blooms that surprise the senses and a

fascinating play of olfactory contrasts. It is in this period that my inspiration settles, almost naturally, on two absolute icons of perfumery: the delicate purity of Lily of the Valley and the complex seduction of the rose.

In my olfactory universe, these two flowers come to life in two creations to which I am particularly attached: Lucrezia Extrait de Parfum, a tribute to intellectual and silent strength and Black Rose Extrait de Parfum, a tribute to the most intense and magnetic side of the soul.

Lucrezia Extrait de Parfum: the intellectual strength that gently blossoms.

Lucrezia Extrait de Parfum was born as an olfactory evocation of a historical, but extremely contemporary female figure: Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia. Imagine Padua in 1678, a time when knowledge was a purely male privilege and a woman, with her tenacity and brilliant mind, breaks down barriers, becoming the first woman in the world to earn a degree. A revolutionary gesture, a powerful affirmation of determination and intellect.

Claudia Scattolini Extrait de Parfum Lucrezia

This exclusive fragrance is a sensorial journey through the centuries, inspired by the history and legacy of the University of Padua, one of the oldest universities in the world. When this project was proposed to me by the University of Padua, on the occasion of the celebration of its 800 years of history, I was enthusiastic and honored at the same time. The idea of being able to interpret this historical turning point for women’s emancipation and at the same time celebrate such a prestigious anniversary, inspired me from the first approach.

To embody this gentle force of knowledge, I chose a flower that in its apparent simplicity, conceals a remarkable resilience: lily of the valley. Its delicate white bells, thin yet capable of thriving in the most humid and shady woods, emanate a pure, fresh scent, which envelops in an immediate sensation of cleanliness and serenity. It is interesting to note how lily of the valley is a “mute flower” due to the direct extraction of its essence; in perfumery, its iconic scent is recreated through expert molecular accords, an olfactory alchemy that captures its vibrant soul. A symbolic flower of May in many European cultures, lucky in France and traditionally linked to spiritual purity, in Lucrezia lily of the valley celebrates the silent force of intelligence, a beauty that does not need ostentation to be noticed.

Black Rose Extrait de Parfum: the magnetic mystery of an unexpected rose.

In a fascinating counterpoint, Black Rose Extrait de Parfum explores another dimension of the soul, the mysteriousmagnetic and deeply seductive one. The “black rose”, a flower that does not exist in nature but takes shape in the olfactory imagination, materializes in this fragrance through bold combinations. The rose absolute blends with the depth of patchouli, the vivacity of pepper, the mysterious darkness of woods and the sophisticated sensuality of leather, creating a theatrical but at the same time incredibly refined sillage. The Black Rose juice, like all my perfumes, is neither masculine nor feminine. It has no definition. What matters in a perfume is the olfactory freedom that does not depend on gender or any pre-established label.

Two flowery souls of May that speak without gender boundaries.

Lily of the valley and black rose, Lucrezia and Black Rose, are not simply two distinct scents; they represent two different interpretations of the energy of May, a season of transformation and blossoming in all its forms.

Lucrezia embodies the polite intelligence, grace and freshness of a new awareness that faces the world. Black Rose, on the contrary, expresses an elegant passion, a charismatic strength, a mystery that is told only to those who have the sensitivity to listen to it.

Two flowers, two ways of telling about themselves through the universal language of perfume.

And for those who love to experiment, the layering technique offers a unique way to blend these two souls, creating a flowery effect that tells a thousand stories, that explores the different facets of every individuality, beyond any gender label. Because a perfume, just like a flower, knows no boundaries.
